Sandhausen

This is the little town that Lia and Lui live in. This is John and Lia.
This is John and me.

This is of a woman rolling tobacco. This is a tobacco growing area. I saw my first ever tobacco growing in fields. Had no idea the grew it here in Germany.

I didn't know that either! I've never seen tobacco growing in Europe. It was raised a lot where I grew up in northern Florida, USA. It is such a pretty plant, with lovely flowers.

I recently learned that many former tobacco farmers in the US are switching to wine grapes. It is way more profitable, and still socially acceptable. :-)

What I find even more amazing, is that it appears she is rolling a cigar. For some reason, I thought cigars were the product solely of Cuba, Central and South America. Silly me! The tobacco harvest here in Virginia is just starting.

Colin, those are some beautiful pictures of Germany. I have always wanted to go to Germany. And tobacco in Germany--who knew!
