It looks like the word is getting out, which is a good thing. This hits close to home for me. The same thing could easily have happened to a family member of mine, who "luckily" just received permanent scarring for saying the wrong thing to someone who had an irrational fear of gays.

Seeing the true nature of humanity (some good, some horrible) makes me an even stronger advocate for peace, tolerance and kindness--if only to counterbalance the horrors that are perpetuated daily to people viewed as "other" by those who do not value the lives of fellow humans.

But it makes me weary and tired. For all the "advances" of modern times, not much has advanced in how people treat each other. Wars, slavery, mutilation, indifference... it's here just the same as it was throughout recorded history, and no doubt before that. I just hope kindness, benevolence, support and generosity have also always been with us.

I don't live that far away and had not even heard of this. they must really be working to hush this.

It breaks my heart. My darling stepson, also named Aaron has recently come out to his family and I am so happy and proud of him that he can finally be himself. My heart just goes out to this man's family. What a nightmare

Words fail me, they always do when I read something like this. How can people in this day and age behave like this to another human being. Cut me and I bleed, just like you, we are no different!
