Elle Sock

The yarn is Elle Sock Yarn, 80% new wool and 20% nylon, shade number 49. Made in South Africa. Lovely handle to this yarn.(Yarn from The Knitting Hut )

The sock is knit toe up. I very nearly abandoned it because it looked nothing on the needles(see below) but continued on until I had knitted to go over part of my foot. Then I liked it.

The pattern is very simple K1tb, p1, K into next 2 sts but do not take off and then knit into 1st of these two sts again and place on right needle, P1, K1tb and repeat all around.

It looks rather plain unless on a foot....
Turkish cast on(20 sts each needle tip-Magic Loop)
I think this is my best heel yet, done slightly differently to previous Sherman heels.

Lovely socks as usual. Just popped in as I thought you had some info re the sherman heel, I will do a web search. Am knitting socks for DH using bamboo yarn, lovely handle, but i dont like the short row heel I have tried.

Love the video, see there are others, I might check those out later. Hope you do manage to get away to Germany you deserve a break. Do you think all this damp air is what is winding up your hips. I have heard stories of people being able to tell it is going to rain by having pains in their bones?

I think it looks like the ribbing will really keep the socks up. I like the looks of this pair and agree it is surely your best heel yet!

Beautiful socks. Doesn't this rib look like the brioche stitch as in Roza's socks in IK? But whatever it is called, it is very lovely.

It turned out very nice. I'm glad you stuck with it.

LOVE the Elle Man sock. Very nice. I'll borrow the stitch pattern, as it is very handsome and manly. I'll save it, along with the simple stitch pattern I used for the Greensburg Boot Sock:
http://www.knitivity.com/images/bootSockClose.jpg

It's a basic 3x2 ribbing, slightly modified:

odd rows: p2, k3
even rows: p2, k1, p1, k1

Hope all is well with you.

Cheers!

Hi Colin,

Now you're talking my kind of sock! I've really loved all your socks,
Colin; the blue tone socks really make my mouth water. But, this latest
Elle sock is the one I would go for day-in and day-out. It does look
fabulous on the foot!

I'm sure your worst heel is better than the best I could ever do. I wish you could teach me how you make them look so NEAT. Wow.

Woah - these socks rock big time! Nothing can beat a good rib-pattern, and this is certainly an awesome variation of it! Now, if I'd ever manage to knit toe up socks too... they must be a lot cooler and more fun to knit than the "basic" version toe down. And - this is indeed the perfect heel! Fantastic job done!

Hi Colin,

I tried yesterday to send my message to you to say how much I liked your new socks. I think they are great.

Hoping you are well away from all those horrific floods and are keeping safe and well.

The ribbing is great, simple but a really effective pattern. I agree, your heel is fabulous. A very manly sock. Does John like this one?
